Remember, forget, and stop, where the choice changes the meaning.
Why you specifically

The rule
Some verbs can take both a to-infinitive and a gerund, but the meaning changes. With remember, forget, and stop, the form after the verb is not just grammar; it changes the message. Remember + to-infinitive usually means you did not forget to do something. Remember + gerund means you have a memory of something that happened. Forget works in the same contrast: forget to do = not do it because you did not remember; forget doing = have no memory of doing it. Stop + to-infinitive means pause one action in order to do another, while stop + gerund means quit an activity or habit. This is different from verb-plus-infinitive patterns like want to do, and verb-plus-gerund patterns like enjoy doing, where the choice is mainly grammatical and the meaning is stable. For Vietnamese learners, the main risk is translating all these as một mẫu duy nhất like nhớ/quên/dừng + V, but English separates the meanings clearly.

Stop + gerund means to quit an activity or habit completely. Vietnamese learners may translate it as dừng để làm gì đó, but English uses the gerund here for quitting.

Stop + to-infinitive means to pause one activity in order to do another. It does not mean he quit answering the phone as a habit.
