Making the verb match its subject. One of the four grammar systems Vietnamese does not mark at all.
Why you specifically

Trong tiếng Anh, động từ phải hòa hợp với chủ ngữ về số ít/số nhiều và ngôi. Ở thì hiện tại đơn, chủ ngữ số ít ngôi thứ ba như he, she, it, hoặc danh từ số ít thường thêm -s vào động từ: She works, He studies, The baby cries. Nhưng với I, you, we, they và danh từ số nhiều thì không thêm -s: They work, We study. Động từ to be còn đặc biệt hơn: I am, he/she/it is, we/you/they are. Tiếng Việt không chia động từ theo chủ ngữ, nên người học rất dễ quên -s hoặc dùng sai is/are/am. Cần nhớ rõ: đây là ngữ pháp của tiếng Anh hiện tại đơn, khác với tiếng Việt, nơi động từ không đổi theo chủ ngữ.
The rule
Subject-verb agreement means the verb must match the subject in number and person. In the present simple, singular third-person subjects usually take -s on the verb, while plural subjects do not. The verb be also changes: am, is, are. This is different from Vietnamese, which does not mark verbs for subject agreement, so English learners often forget -s or choose the wrong form of be.
The trap

She work in a bank.
She works in a bank.
In the present simple, a singular third-person subject usually takes -s on the verb. Vietnamese does not change the verb form for subject agreement, so learners often forget this.
They lives near my house.
They live near my house.
A plural subject takes the base verb form in the present simple. Vietnamese does not mark number on the verb, so learners may add -s by mistake.
My brother are very tall.
My brother is very tall.
The verb be must agree with a singular subject: is with he, she, it, or one person/thing. Vietnamese learners often use one verb form for all subjects.
The students is ready.
The students are ready.
The verb be must agree with a plural subject: are with we, you, they, or plural nouns. Vietnamese does not change the verb for number agreement.
