Why you specifically
The rule
Use more with many longer adjectives and adverbs to make the comparative: more interesting, more careful, more expensive, more slowly. This point contrasts with adjectives that usually add -er, such as small → smaller and fast → faster. Do not add -er to longer adjectives: more interesting, not interestinger.
The trap
This book is more interestinger than that one.
This book is more interesting than that one.
Use more with longer adjectives like interesting. Do not say more interestinger.
She is carefuler than her brother.
She is more careful than her brother.
Careful uses more in the comparative. The form more careful is correct, but carefuler is not.
My car is more expensiveer than yours.
My car is more expensive than yours.
Expensive takes more in the comparative. More expensiveer is not correct English.
