Why you specifically
The rule
Superlatives show that one person, thing, place, or time is at the top of a group. Use the -est form with short adjectives like tall → tallest, and use most + adjective with longer adjectives like expensive → most expensive. Superlatives are often followed by in or of to show the full group: the tallest in the class, the best of all.
The trap
This is the bigger house in the street.
This is the biggest house in the street.
Use the superlative -est form for one item at the top of a group. "Bigger" compares two things, so it is wrong here.
She is the more careful worker in the team.
She is the most careful worker in the team.
Use most + adjective for many longer adjectives. "More careful" compares two things, so it does not rank one person above all others.
Mount Everest is the highest mountain.
Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world.
Superlatives need the full group idea, often with in or of. Without that, the comparison is incomplete.
This is the better movie of the year.
This is the best movie of the year.
Best is the superlative form of good. "Better" is only for comparing two things.
