Why you specifically
Các động từ tường thuật như admit, deny, suggest có “quy tắc đi kèm” riêng sau chúng. Đây là lỗi rất hay gặp ở người Việt vì tiếng Việt không đổi hình thức động từ như tiếng Anh. Với admit và deny, tiếng Anh thường dùng động từ thêm -ing: admitted stealing, denied breaking. Không dùng to + verb sau hai động từ này trong các cấu trúc này. Với suggest, có hai mẫu đúng: suggest doing something và suggest that + chủ ngữ + động từ nguyên mẫu. Ví dụ: She suggested taking a taxi. / She suggested that we take a taxi. Sau that, động từ thường ở dạng nguyên mẫu không “to”: take, study, go. Người học cần nhớ từng động từ đi với mẫu nào, không dịch từng từ từ tiếng Việt sang tiếng Anh.
The rule
Reporting verbs often control the form that comes after them, and this is a common IELTS error. Admit and deny are usually followed by a gerund: admit doing, deny doing. Suggest can be followed by a gerund or by that + subject + base verb: suggest doing, suggest that we do. English does not usually use to + infinitive after admit, deny, or suggest in these patterns.

After deny, we use a gerund (-ing form), not an infinitive.
I suggested to take a taxi.

After suggest, we use a gerund (-ing form) or a that-clause, not an infinitive.
She suggested that we took a taxi.
She suggested that we take a taxi.
After suggest, we can use a that-clause with the base verb, not a past tense form.
