Plural -s and its spelling variants. Vietnamese does not inflect nouns for number.
Why you specifically

Trong tiếng Anh, danh từ đếm được thường phải đổi sang số nhiều khi nói về hơn một người/vật. Cách phổ biến nhất là thêm -s: book → books, dog → dogs. Nhưng có các quy tắc chính tả khác: danh từ tận cùng bằng -x, -s, -sh, -ch thường thêm -es, ví dụ box → boxes, bus → buses; danh từ tận cùng bằng phụ âm + y thì đổi y thành i rồi thêm -es, ví dụ baby → babies. Sau số lượng như two, three, many, several, danh từ đếm được thường phải ở dạng số nhiều: two books, three boxes. Lỗi rất phổ biến của người Việt là dùng nguyên dạng số ít vì tiếng Việt không biến đổi danh từ theo số ít/số nhiều. Cần nhớ rằng không phải mọi từ có -s cuối đều là số nhiều: có những danh từ số ít như bus trong dạng gốc và một số danh từ số nhiều bất quy tắc như children. Tuy vậy, trong bài này trọng tâm là quy tắc số nhiều thông thường.
The rule
Regular plurals are usually formed with -s: book → books, dog → dogs. After some endings, the spelling changes: box → boxes, bus → buses, baby → babies. In English, count nouns usually need a plural form after numbers greater than one. This is different from Vietnamese, where nouns do not usually change form for singular and plural, so learners often forget the -s or use the singular after a number.
The trap

I have two book on my desk.
I have two books on my desk.
Plural count nouns usually need -s or -es when the number is more than one.
The buss is late this morning.
The bus is late this morning.
Some singular nouns end in -s, so not every final -s means a plural.
She bought three boxs of apples.
She bought three boxes of apples.
After nouns ending in -s, -x, -ch, -sh, or -z, we usually add -es to make the plural.
There are many peoples in the room.
There are many people in the room.
Some common plurals are irregular and do not take regular -s.
