Why you specifically
Thì Quá khứ đơn dùng để nói về một hành động đã hoàn thành trong quá khứ. Với động từ bất quy tắc, ta không thêm -ed mà phải học thuộc dạng quá khứ riêng của từng động từ, ví dụ: go → went, write → wrote, have → had, take → took, see → saw, make → made, come → came, find → found, buy → bought, do → did. Đây là điểm rất quan trọng trong IELTS vì bạn thường phải kể lại trải nghiệm cá nhân, thói quen trong quá khứ hoặc một chuỗi sự việc đã xảy ra. Người Việt hay bị ảnh hưởng bởi cách diễn đạt tiếng Việt vì trong tiếng Việt không có biến đổi hình thái của động từ theo thì như tiếng Anh. Do đó, dễ quên đổi động từ sang dạng quá khứ, hoặc dùng thêm -ed cho cả động từ bất quy tắc. Cần nhớ rằng quá khứ đơn dùng cùng các dấu hiệu thời gian như yesterday, last week, in 2020, two days ago, và dạng quá khứ không đổi theo chủ ngữ: I went, he went, they went.
The rule
Past Simple (Irregular) is used for completed actions in the past when the verb has an irregular past form. These verbs do not follow the regular -ed pattern, so students must memorise forms like go → went, write → wrote, have → had, take → took, see → saw, make → made, come → came, find → found, buy → bought, and do → did. In IELTS writing and speaking, irregular past forms are very common when you describe personal experiences, past routines, or events in a story. Remember that the past form stays the same for all subjects: I went, he went, they went. Do not add -ed, and do not use the present form after a past-time word like yesterday, last week, or two days ago.

The past of go is went. In the past simple, irregular verbs change their whole form; we do not add -ed.
She writed three emails last night.
She wrote three emails last night.
The past of write is wrote. The form writed is not standard English.
They haved a meeting on Monday.
They had a meeting on Monday.
The past of have is had. It does not become haved in the past simple.
He taked the bus to work this morning.
He took the bus to work this morning.
