Quantity with uncountable versus countable nouns.
Why you specifically

Much và many đều dùng để nói về số lượng, nhưng chúng đi với hai loại danh từ khác nhau. Many dùng với danh từ đếm được số nhiều: many books, many students, many questions. Much dùng với danh từ không đếm được: much water, much money, much time, much rice. Trong câu khẳng định hằng ngày, tiếng Anh thường thích a lot of hoặc lots of hơn much, nhưng much rất thường gặp trong câu hỏi và câu phủ định. Mẹo nhớ cho IELTS: nếu bạn có thể đếm từng cái một, dùng many; nếu không thể đếm riêng từng phần, dùng much.
The rule
Much and many both talk about quantity, but they are used with different noun types. Use many with countable nouns in plural form: many books, many students, many questions. Use much with uncountable nouns: much water, much money, much time, much rice. In everyday affirmative sentences, English often prefers a lot of or lots of instead of much, but much is common in questions and negatives. A useful IELTS rule is: if you can count the items one by one, use many; if you cannot count them separately, use much.
