The rule
We use the infinitive of purpose to say why someone does something. The structure is to + base verb: I went to the shop to buy milk. It answers the question Why? and often comes after the main action. After to, use the base form of the verb, not -ing or a past tense form.

Use to + verb after a purpose clause to explain why you did something.
She saved money for buy a laptop.

Use the infinitive after to when the second action is the purpose.
