Why you specifically
The rule
We use be going to for future plans that are already decided and for predictions based on present evidence. The form is am/is/are going to + base verb: I am going to study, she is going to travel, they are going to arrive. Do not use a changed verb after going to, and do not leave out the verb be.
The trap
I go to visit my grandparents next weekend.
I am going to visit my grandparents next weekend.
Use am/is/are going to + verb for a plan already decided.
It is rain soon.
It is going to rain soon.
Use going to for a prediction based on present evidence, such as dark clouds.
She is starting a new job next month.
She is going to start a new job next month.
Use going to + verb for an arranged future plan.
We are going to buys a new car next year.
We are going to buy a new car next year.
After going to, use the base form of the verb.
