The rule
Fronting means moving a word, phrase, or clause to the front of the sentence to create cohesion, contrast, or emphasis. In English, fronted place phrases are usually followed by a comma in writing, and some fronted negative or limiting expressions trigger subject-auxiliary inversion, especially in formal style: Never have I..., Only after..., Under no circumstances should... . Not every fronted element needs inversion, so the structure depends on the type of phrase being moved.

Fronting a phrase for emphasis is possible in English, but the fronted phrase must be followed by a comma. Without the comma, the sentence is harder to read and sounds incorrect in writing.
In the kitchen she found the missing keys.
In the kitchen, she found the missing keys.
When a place phrase is fronted for cohesion or emphasis, it is normally followed by a comma. This helps show the sentence structure clearly.
Never I have seen such a crowd.
Never have I seen such a crowd.
With fronted negative adverbials like never, the subject and auxiliary are inverted. The non-inverted word order is not correct in this emphatic structure.
Only after the meeting we understood the problem.
Only after the meeting did we understand the problem.
After fronting a limiting phrase such as only after the meeting, English usually requires inversion in formal style. Keeping normal word order here is ungrammatical in this structure.
