Why you specifically
Cụm be used to có nghĩa là “quen với / đã quen với”, nói về trạng thái hiện tại: điều gì đó không còn lạ nữa. Cụm get used to có nghĩa là “dần quen với”, nhấn mạnh quá trình trở nên quen. Còn used to là cấu trúc khác hẳn: nó nói về thói quen hoặc trạng thái trong quá khứ nhưng bây giờ không còn nữa. Vì vậy, used to + V nguyên mẫu là nói về quá khứ, còn be/get used to phải theo sau bằng danh từ hoặc V-ing. Đây là lỗi rất hay gặp với người Việt vì trong tiếng Việt “quen”, “đã quen”, “dần quen”, và “đã từng” dễ bị lẫn vào nhau.
The rule
be used to means 'be familiar with' or 'be accustomed to'. get used to means 'become familiar with' or 'become accustomed to'. used to is different: it describes a past habit or past state that is no longer true. After be used to and get used to, use a noun, pronoun, or gerund (-ing form), not a base verb. This contrast is important for IELTS because Vietnamese learners often mix up quen với, quen dần với, and đã từng.
